Our aim at Bishop Construction Services is to reduce uncertainty and stress surrounding our processes. As it is one of our most frequently asked questions, we’ve decided to address the process in more detail.

If you are still feeling lost or we haven’t answered your questions, make sure you contact Bishop Construction Services today.

Initial Consult and (loose) estimate

For most clients, approaching a builder will be the first step. Many homeowners contact our team looking for a quote for their project. Unfortunately, without plans a truly accurate quote is not possible. However, at Bishop Construction Services our team has over two decades of estimating experience. We will be able to provide you with a ballpark figure based on the parameters of the project.

Plans

As mentioned above, plans are a necessity in order for our team to provide an accurate quote. Over the years, we have also built an impressive network of connections and as such, can put you in contact with trusted building designers or architects who will create a quality set of plans detailing your dream home. Our contacts will take you confidently through their unique process, ensuring that even the smallest of details are included.

Comprehensive quote

Once your plans (as well as engineering) are completed, our team can provide you with a comprehensive quote. This will include accurate costs of fixtures, materials, labour, subcontractors, etc. Once the quote is accepted, then the process moves quite quickly.

The general building or renovation process is as follows:

  1. Prepare construction site and pour the foundation
  2. Construct rough framing
  3. Complete rough plumbing, electrical and HVAC
  4. Install insulation
  5. Complete drywall and interior textures; start exterior finishes
  6. Finish interior trim; install exterior driveways and walkways
  7. Install hard-surface flooring and countertops, and complete exterior grading
  8. Finish mechanical trims; install bathroom fixtures
  9. Install mirrors, shower doors and finish flooring, and finish exterior landscaping
  10. Final walkthrough with builder
